BLS for Health Care Providers (HCP)
(adult/child/infant/and AED)
Target Audience:
- People who provide health care to patients in a wide variety of settings including in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. Examples: Nurses, pharmacists, physician's assistants, EMT's dental assistants, and other allied health personnel.
Course Curriculum:
- CPR and rescue breathing for victims of all ages including ventilation with barrier device, a bag-mask device, and oxygen, use of automated external defibrillator (AED) and relieving choking victims (foreign body airway obstruction).
Course Length:
- Adult, Child, Infant, and AED: 4 Hours (approx.)
Examinations:
- Written and practical examination.
- Issued a 2-year certification card.
Heartsaver CPR (HS)
(Adult and/or child and infant)
Target Audience:
- Lay responders. Any lay responders who are serving as rescuers as part of their jobs with the option of having an AED component. Examples: Police, lifeguards, firefighters, security personnel, and office workers.
Course Curriculum:
- Trained to perform CPR relief of choking victims and rescue breathing. Also trained in barrier devices and prevention of infectious diseases.
Course Length:
- Adult, Child, Infant, AED: 4 hours (approx.)
- Adult, AED: 3 hours (approx.)
- Pediatric, AED: 3 hours (approx.)
Examinations:
- Written and practical examination
- Issued a 2-year certification card
First Aid
Target Audience:
- Those who wish to learn what to do during an emergency. This course is designed for people to become better educated on what to do when emergencies arise.

BLS Healthcare Provider Online Part 1
BLS HCP Online Part l offers a flexible CPR training option for healthcare professionals. This program recognizes that healthcare professionals enter the course with knowledge and skills acquired from prior CPR training and years of patient care.
How it works:
Part 1. Students complete the online, cognitive portion of the course, either at the workplace or anywhere with Internet access. When students finish the online portion, a certificate of completion will be available for them to print. The certificate is required to complete Part 2 at an authorized American Heart Association Training Center.
Part 2. Students complete the skills validation test with an American Heart Association Instructor.
Upon successful completion of both parts, students will be issued an American Heart Association BLS - Healthcare Provider Course Completion Card.

Bloodborne Pathogens
- Bloodborne Pathogens is available upon request (not American Heart Association sponsored but is OSHA approved).
- An additional hour including video and written test
