An additional mosquito trapped at Peckham Farm has tested positive for EEE.
Precautions to protect oneself against being bitten by mosquitoes:
Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants.
Use mosquito repellent with no more than 30% DEET.
Be particularly vigilant between dusk and dawn.
Mosquito surveillance monitoring has identified a mosquito trapped at Peckham Farm as testing positive for EEE. EEE and West Nile are mosquito borne illnesses, seasonal in nature and known to occur in the community, that can infect humans. There are currently no known human cases in Rhode Island.
